Our Process

D9E professionals prefer to get involved early in the design process, often in the conceptual phase, to assist the team in system selections, test fits, and space planning for mechanical, electrical, and agricultural equipment. We provide due diligence services to analyze existing buildings that are being considered for renovation to a licensed cannabis facility. 


We use a proven process that allows owners and operators to make informed decisions on the best solutions for their facility. This involves two key documents for successful design, construction, and facility commissioning. We first begin with an Owner's Project Requirements (OPR) document, listing the owner's functional requirements and associated criteria for success. Next, we create a Basis of Design (BOD) document that lists the rationale and methodology used to satisfy the OPR. The BOD lists how the design intends to meet the OPR, options considered, and why certain decisions are made. These living documents guide us through the design process to help assure the best possible outcomes.
